IN THE BEGINNING...

Well the "Family Truckster" as he has been named, is a 1991 Nissan Patrol LWB Diesel 4.2 ltr(The mighty TD42) TI, T-bar Automatic (I have one bung leg) in 2 tone paint with 200,000 klms on it when I got him! He was purchased due to some old piece of dung pulling out on the missus and smashing the shit out of the car... This all happened at 12pm 24/DEC of all days.. So Xmas day and boxing day were spent looking at cars. He had escaped from a home, driven 25klms to buy a watermelon (NO SHIT!).

TFT (The Family Truckster), is a Patrol TI, which is the top of the range model, velour interior (what for in a 4WD?), lectric windows(what for in a 4WD?), LSD, side steps, wide wheels, air cond, power steer, but thats the same in most cars now! The TI is excellent, smooth, powerful, and I see him as a bargain. Its good to have your own wheels to get around in again...

TFT is not a George st Farmer, or a Toorak Taxi. This car is built for offroading, and will be used for this. People who buy 4wds to drive the kids to skewl should be shot!

WHY THE MIGHTY PATROL??

I am tall and fat, so I like plenty of room in a car, the Patrol was the one. Tried a Pajero, but couldnt fit! The 80 Series was another choice, but I see them as a Telstra special.. Na, they are more than excellent, its just that this car came around at the RIGHT PRICE! The Patrols look solid and look like a 4WD, plenty of room for camping, have an excellent reputation, plenty of them around, so extras, spares and knowledge are easily found! I had decided on this or a troopy. I need an Auto with my leg, and troopys in diesel auto dont exist!.. then this came along at a steal price!

OTHER

We joined the Sydney Nissan Patrol club, have both completed driver training with them. It was excellent, and I learned a lot, also it was a little nerve racking sitting in the passangers seat while the wife went thru her paces! We look forward to a lot of trips with them. They all seem like a nice people so far, we have been away with them once so far, but this was a bit of a scandal as only one other car turned up. Pissed me off shit loads.

Since then we have moved to Melbourne, and have joined the Melbourne Patrol Club. Sadly like most clubs, they don't run many weekend runs, which pisses me off a little.
But they are a great bunch of people, they are in similar vein to the Sydney Patrol Club
You wouldnt really ask for much more than they have given, and everyone gets in and has a go!
